• Gottlieb Double Award Issue

I wonder if anyone is familiar with the above feature or has one of the games with the double award. I have a Mystic Marvel that has a bit of a strange problem. Insert a nickel and the game starts properly but when you insert another nickel to light the double award the score motor rotates 1/3 and then it completely shuts off, however when you insert a 3rd nickel it starts up again and it Is ready to play with the double award lit up and the feature working correctly. Any thoughts? I have been all through it and checked the schematic to no avail.

Don't have my 4 Belles schematic handy... I would think it's a score motor switch that's dirty or not making, stopping the motor from completing its rotation to the end of its cycle. Since you have a schematic, you can check the score motor circuit to see what drives the rotation cycle start/stop ... that's where I'd start.

I don't have the schematic for 4 Belles in my files, but based on the OP description I would be checking the relay that deals with the second
coin. I suspect the Motor carry-over switch on that relay is either not
making contact or opening too soon, stopping the timing motor in its tracks.

Sorry it took so long to get back with an update as the problem was a bit more complicated than I thought. With the help of Bob Herbison I finally got steered in the right direction. Bob and I shared quite a few emails and he gave a lot of good suggestions. So this what was done to fix the double award issue. 2B on the score motor was gapped closer to keep the contacts closed longer, “D” relay which is a 110 volt relay was also gapped closer on one set of contacts to provide longer power to the score motor and on the “R” relay ( hold relay ) one set of switches was adjusted as the armature plate was closing towards the coil but not making contact. My theory which could be off the wall is that “ when the “D” was pulling in at 110 volts it was causing the “R” relay to loose a bit of power so the armature plate was opening off shutting down the game before the score motor could complete its’ 1/3 revolution
