Steve's tip was utilized on the current United game I'm working on... nylon spacers are available at most any hardware store. Get one that matches the width of the rod and cut length to size. Drill the center to fit over the threaded tip, then epoxy in place. Install rubber tip on nylon spacer, and good to go.
