• Substitute Sound Board in a Pinbot

    From D B@galacti5@yahoo.com to rec.games.pinball on Sunday, May 10, 2020 18:56:51

My pinbot has the original D-11297-549 sound card in it now.
I want to try to use a D-11581-4001.
Is this possible and what do I need to change to get it to work?

    Thanks,
    DB

Although I have never tried it, I really don't see why it wouldn't work. The sound boards changed during the F-14 run, and I don't believe that there are different ROM images for each board with F-14. If you already have the board, try it, and see what happens.
And, from my experience with Pinbot, you should be good with just U4 installed. I've never found what the purpose of U19 is. Most Pinbots do not have that chip installed!
