• STNG DIsplay Question

I have a STNG game and my display is having an odd issue. It works fine when entering the settings menu, it tests out fine in the system test.

However, when i move to play the game, the display goes blank. if i move back to the settings menu, the display comes back.

I tested the pins on the Display and all the voltages appeared to be correct.

Once in a while it will work, but then freezes

    Any suggestions?

Can you run the display tests in the Diagnostics menu? This covers the
various image "pages" that the DMD controller uses to generate the
    screen displays.

I suspect that one or more pages is missing...in which case I'd try a
new 6264 RAM and, if not fixed, then either poke with a logic probe, or
find someone to fix it or replace it.

The Display tests out perfectly and as well as RAM Test OK. All the pages are there.

I am waiting on a ribbon cable to come, hopefully that is the issue.

    Thanks,

    Pin-Del,

If that were the case wouldn't doing a factory reset and or going back
to the factory ram clear the issue?

    Thanks,

I doubt the ribbon cable will sort this out, a simple test is to unplug
the ribbon cable from the sound board and move that end to the DMD
driver board. The ribbon cable from the DMD driver board to the DMD
display is working fine, no point in replacing it.

At this point I'm thinking something is wrong on the DMD driver board,
but would have to have it on my test fixture to pin it down. I have
suspects, but without tests this would be shotgun fixing which I hate.

Anyone closer to you that has tech skills and can look at your DMD
    driver board?

Where are you located? I agree with John, I'd be shocked if a new ribbon cable solves this. Also, are you running a standard DMD display, Pin2DMD, or other display?
