I have a desktop system running Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS. My pointing device
is a Logitech Marbleman trackball, connect via USB port.
The issue is that, when the ball is not moved of 30 seconds or longer,
moving the ball is not detected right away. Pressing any of the
buttons is immediately recognized, but the ball must be moved for a few
seconds before it is recognized.
I have used "evtest" to verify that no signal is being received by the
evdev driver, which leads me to wonder if the issue is in the USB HID
driver?
Does anyone else use a Marbleman? If so, have you seen this behavior?
They mention "Autosuspend" here.

Usually, a user has to tweak a few power management settings on a
system, to get things the way they want. As the out of box OS may be set
up to save as much power as possible. And sometimes a little compromise
is called for, to make the system more usable.

Looks very promising. Thanks for the tip!
