    The Serpent-Bearer (overnight)

Ophiuchus, the Serpent-Bearer is a large summer constellation situated just west of the Milky Way and extending northward from the Ecliptic. His large body, 27 degrees high, with a flat bottom, tapering sides, and pointed top, resembles a villainous Dalek from Doctor Who. Ophiuchus' southeastern leg extends downward across the ecliptic, making him the 13th constellation that the sun visits during the year (in December, annually). This constellation is loaded with more than a dozen globular clusters, including the brighter Messier objects M9, M10, M12, M14, and M107.
