also it is a DOS program instead of Windows-native, but you *might* be able to get Arachne web browser to work on a 286.
Again I never tried it on a 286. I only know that it worked on a 386.

Arachne definately works on a 286 & with Frogfind.com you can browse some modern website providing they are very simple, you just have to use the correct build of Arachne. There is a non protected mode build that will run on 8086 & 286 class hardware, whereas the other build needs 386 or better.
I tried it on NEC V20 (8088 clone thats a bit faster) & it's incredibly slow to the point of being unusable. On a 286 its just really slow though, on
simple website with few graphics it's kinda usable... if you are patient person.
