• VCF West

Heading to VCF West next weekend, it's nearby in Mountain View, CA. Looking at the agenda, it looks pretty small compared to other events, like VCF Midwest.

Some interesting and deeply nerdy topics and speakers.

There's a floor show and consignment area. For folks who have been to VCF, are these events good places to pick up deals on retro hardware? Or is it like eBay? I guess it depends on the vendors, but just curious what people have experienced at VCF.

How far are you coming from?

You also get admission to the Computer History Museum - they have an IBM 1401 mainframe that they fire up on special occasions, a PDP-1 playing Spacewars, and a TON of exhibits going back to the days of ENIAC, and a lot of history from Silicon Valley, where the CHM is right in the middle of. There's a Xerox Alto and a signed Apple 1, among other exhibits.

Just down the highway in Berkeley.

I love this museum! Try and visit every couple years, the history is pretty incredible. Better than the Smithsonian!
