• PING

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 19:56:43
Netmails sent to 21:1/100 with the subject of PING in the should now get an automated reply. The same for 3:770/1 which also resides at the same system.

A routeto command does not seem to work though.

Yeah, that's odd. Either Stas's update broke it, or maybe my changes for the PVT flag broke it. I'll test that out a bit and see if I can figure out why that's not working.

I'd like to fly the PING in the nodelist but not sure I should just yet :)

You are supporting ping and trace now so I think you can go ahead and add the flag.

I'm sure the %routeto command can be made to work once we know what the issue is a fix will follow.

I just pinged your node and had a reply one minute later.. :)

How does trace work? I'll add the PING flag to 1/100

The trace function replies to messages addressed to ping that go through your node. It replies showing the kludge and via lines the same as a ping request.

If you send a ping to another node via your hub, your hub will send you a reply that says your message passed through your node and send the ping on toward it's destination.

OK thanks, that's helpful to understand :)

The %RouteTo: command does seem to work. I just sent a ping from 1:153/757.2 to 1:153/757 and put %RouteTo: 3:770/1 and my reply was packed for 3:770/1.

I am just awaiting the reply that I think will be here shortly.
