So many systems on autopilot... and then they just stop...
I don't, and never have understood the "thrill" of setting up a BBS, doing anything to it, never logging into it, never checking on it, bu it run with nothing on it.
I think a lot of sysops do put time to customize it, but sometimes I
think some sysops get busy and their BBS becomes a low priority for them for a while but they still want to keep running it. They might get back to it at some point when they have more free time.

Nah.. people are well aware of the various messenger apps: WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Signal, Sypes, Session, Simplex, Matrix ..to name
a few. And among them both mobile and desktop versions are available.
