I'm looking to add IRC/chat support to my board, and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to the best mod to use?

The following python based solution looks promising:

MRC is the one most boards use. It has been around a long time. I believe it connects only to a custom MRC server, not to random IRC servers

For myself I wanted to be able to join random or my own IRC servers. So I
wrote iChat. Actually I am about to release version 2.1 which has all small issues ironed out.

I was specifically looking for a client which would connect to The Bottomless Abyss Meetups chat. Having used my razor sharp, ney, Holmes-like deductive skills, I figured StackFault would probably host said client via his files section. Needless to say he does, and it was an absolute doddle to setup.

That said however, I am certainly interested in a more generic IRC solution;
I shall take a look at the URL you kindly provided.
