• fsxNet File Area polling

From Mandarax@21:1/156 to All on Monday, October 24, 2022 10:43:49
Since I'm new to Mystic and just setup fsxNet I need a little help on file areas. I added the fsxNet file areas to my BBS. I am not sure if they are updating when polling with the hub, or how that even works. Maybe there just hasn't been any new files since I added them. If there has been, I am not getting any updates to files to my BBS.

If someone can offer assistance on what I might be missing or steps I should check that need to be done to get it to work properly. I thought I had added the correct options in my .ini for adding files, but I must be missing something.

    Thanks,

    Hello Mandarax!

file areas. I added the fsxNet file areas to my BBS. I am not sure if they are updating when polling with the hub, or how that even works.

You need to subscribe to the file echos by sending a netmail to Filefix at the hub with your Filefix password as the subject and with +FSX_ARTS, +FSX_DOOR etc. (the file echo names) as separate lines in the message text/body.

Then, in your mutil.ini (or import.ini or similar that you run when receiving mail, perhaps by way of events), you need:

    [General]

    FileToss = true

Also make sure that the Echo Tag for each file base in the File Base Editor is set to the exact same name as the file echo has at the hub, e.g. FSX_ARTS or FSX_DOOR, and that your fsxNet address is selected for the Net Address field.

You don't need (or even shouldn't) set Export To the hub, as the areas are one-way, i.e., read-only, so there shouldn't be any exports going on from you to the hub.

You should also prevent uploads, e.g. by setting Upload ACS to %. As the areas are one-way, you will probably never want to manually hatch files that are already present in the area to connected nodes (e.g. the hub in case of misconfiguration), so you might also want to set Hatch ACS to % as well while you're at it.

That should be it, I think! =)

    Best regards
    Zip

The most consistent files I get are the fsxNet nodelist and the info file. They typically show up on Thursdays for me.

As for help, the areafix and filefix documents were a big help to me.

Yeah, I think I am setup for getting the files. According to filefix the file bases are linked. Being I didn't set everything up until after Thursday I probably just haven't made it to a nodelist / info update as of yet. I will wait and see what happens as of Thursday.

    Thanks!

files are hatched out, it's a one way thing at this stage, the nodelist and infopack are sent weekly, fridays my time, possibly thursdays your time :)

those two files are hatched with the REPLACE verb so they ask your bbs to delete the old version and drop in the new one :)

Other files are hatched out as they are sent to me at Agency, some are replacements others are not.

There are some image files also being sent out.

I do need to get a process running to re-hatching old files out to nodes so that new nodes can pick them up as well as the older nodes.

there is no rescan option for files, but the HUBS (mostly) allow for files to be resent if you use the correct filefix syntax and know the name of the file you want.

    hope that helps :)

I noticed that nodelist infopack was hatched out, but I see nothing new in my file bases. It looks like my BBS is not getting files from the hub. I guess I will have to try to figure out why this is not happening. Or why the BBS doesn't add the files to the listing. One or the other is happening.

Check your inbound directory and see if those files are building up in there.

Also check with Filefix and be sure you are connected to the areas you would like to be connected to.

Yeah, just did this. They were stacking up there. I found the issue, small type in the directory bath for importing files associated from coming from hub. So it wasn't located a directory. All fixed now.

    Thanks!
