What are the advantages or reasons for setting up a different program than what Mystic already has?
It's not necessarily something I plan to do anytime soon, but then again I'm still figuring all of this out.

Mystic has a pretty good tosser (my opinion) so you probably don't need anything else. It does file tossing and nodelist compilation too, so you don't need much in the way of external utilities.
There might be some feature of a tosser your built in tosser doesn't
have so you need another.
Or your BBS may not have a tosser at all, so you need a bare tosser.
That was almost always the case in the early days although today most
BBSs do have a tosser.

Just my personal two cents; I am a medium BBS user, and I do NOT use anything other than what Mystic offers.... it gets my messages, from all the FTNs - but I don't know if I have the BEST netmail support - Which
is mostly USER ERROR. Lol.
Just saying that you can totally just use the Mystic software, and you'd be pretty much setup. PRETTY MUCH. :P

I'm experimenting with other apps in Termux on my phone besudes the BBS. Syncterm seem to work mostly fine, except for some reason it's doing basically 1/3 of the screen for the terminal and cutting the board in half, making things tricky to maneuver around with. So most of those
calls are fooling with screen sizes to get that better.
The ultimate goal is I'm figuring that any program that will work in Termux could be adapted as an Android app to improve mobile BBS access.
I dislike using terminals on a phone.. maybe a tablet would look nice;

Does anyone know of any BBS software that can auto-wrap all content to
ANY width? E.g. mobile aspect ratio?

And thats the best stuff to do things on. Whats in front of you. I've misplaced
a couple iPhone 4's that I have. Ticking me off, because theres a persistent jailbreak and I can do a few things with it. Theres a new service called... Beeper that allows iMessaging on devices other than iPhones. (I know, I'd be using an iPhone 4... but any Android/etc would work.)

I loved my Pebble smartwatch. I had the 2nd generation one called the Pebble Time, the vibration motor in that watch was a beast, you'd never miss a notification on that puppy. It was also cool as a alarm clock
(if you wore it to bed) to not wake up your significant other.
I wore mine right up until I bought the Apple Watch.
