• AREAFIX commands?

From 2twisty@21:3/166 to All on Friday, April 01, 2022 12:53:09
I have read over the areafix help file.

I want to do a %RESCAN of ALL areas. The documentation supplies examples for individual areas, and the syntax notation in the file SAYS that if you just send %RESCAN it will do ALL... However, I get an error message back from AREAFIX saying that it can't figure out what I am doing.

Do I have to send a %RESCAN for each area or is there really a global way of doing it...like a %RESCAN * or something?

Yep! %RESCAN * is what you're looking for! Try:

    %RESCAN * 7 days

to get the last week of messages from all of fsxNet

    %RESCAN * 7 days

It was the * that I need. That's NOT in the docs!

I'm a bit behind in messages - but I wanted to share a couple of points.

%HELP sends you a help message - with instructions
%RESCAN will resend you old messages

Depending on the BBS implementation of tosser functions, %RESCAN behaves differently. Since I use hpt (and I'm your hub) - the syntax is %RESCAN <area> N days, where <area> is a named area (as retrieved from %LIST), or "*" to represent all areas, or "A*" to represent all areas that being with "A" (for example). "N" is the number of days to rescan for, if followed by "days" keyword, otherwise it means the list "N" messages.

%HELP is normally your first thing use with any hub (and it's mentioned in my welcome email as well) :)
