    Technically if you are only doing so locally, what zone you use shouldn't
    make a difference.

    I picked that based on my phone number at the time. I've been getting
    dovenet from nick that way for yeaaaaars.

    Sure, I use zone 10 - and yes I'm aware that there is an active FTN network that uses zone 10 as well.

    (I use zone 10, like 10.0.0.0/8 IP addresses - as an "internal" FTN.)
