You can use magiedit on the linux version, I was using it here to start with. Magiedit has it's own problems though, and the code was getting
    to be a big mess.

Gotcha. If I have time I may try to cram a dos message editor in there
as a door... think it would work?

Little things like that.. haven't had a crash in a while though, so
    that's good :)

    Very good!

Yeah, it should. I guess you'd have to use netfoss etc.

It is supposed to use QuickBBS style for the external editor, and it puts
the MSGTMP / MSGINF in the temp/[node]/ folder.

So you'd just have your external editor line in the talisman ini to point
to a batch file that loads up netfoss and the dos editor.

This maybe a dumb question... could one use the old (or current, I think.) iceEdit? I always liked that editor and if it would plugin with TALISMAN that would be cool.

You might be able to on Windows 32 bit, but not on a pi. The dosbox
method I mentioned earlier won't work too well if someone's trying to
write a message on 2 nodes at a time, which is more likely than running
    the same door.

Shows what I know, about IceEdit and using it with TALISMAN - I didn't even think about how it would be 'a door'... understood..

I'll have a play with this over the next three days. Will also start
moving some ANSI's over and see if I can break it good and proper. ;)

EDIT: Just upgraded. Didn't think and overwrote the message area config
LOL. Need to rebuild that first. hahahahahaha

I'm not sure how the netfoss part works, but the batchfile is called just
like a door, ie with %1 being node number and %2 being socket.

Sorry I wasn't clear. in talisman.ini what is the keyword? is it
    editor = "batchfile" ?

    Under paths, you put

    external editor = batchfile
