I think the main issue at least for me is that there are already
services which provide such services.
E.g. eqsl.cc, LOTW, ClubLog etc...
Excellent point. I don't use the eqsl or LOTW myself and I do have a SKCC logging program. I know if you want more functionality you need to be a subscriber at QRZ like import and better sorting and customization.
I suppose for me, I keep QRZ up as I'm on the air so I can have the handy UTC time date and the look up at my fingertips. Though I did find today I was copying a QSO at lunch between K1PUG and a QRP station that was pretty chirpy, I was missing some log entrys.
I was sure I had worked K1PUG myself and went to my card collection and yes I had worked him. I just never went back and did a back entry in the log. The other thing QRZ did give for free was the ability to have concurrent logs. So when I worked K1PUG I was at a different QTH from years ago. So once again paper can't lie, and I keep all my copy in spiral log books so I can look back, but I usually transfer the contacts to the QRZ page.
The other thing is in awards. I'm much closer to Worked All States that it seems when you see how many stations I've worked that have QRZ accounts but have not acknowledged the contact with the logging system! It's enough to make me send out cards!
