Greetings one and all, It's almost time to release Part 8 (the final part) of the documentary series "Back to the BBS". This part is on the ANSI/text mode art scene.
As usual for an episode of Back to the BBS, there are some interviews with
some great characters. This episode includes AVG from Blocktronics, Cthulu of Mistigris, Mel Farr Superstarr of Fuel and introduces young talent to the scene, 'oddfirefox'.
The episode introduces the origins of text mode art right the way from ASCII and the teletype, all the way through to maturity on the BBS using ANSI and
the other derivatives such as PETSCII and TOPAZ.
Visually, there's some great examples of early BBS artwork from the late 80s and early 90s, as well as bang up to date examples. There's a little
discussion about literature too.
There is still a very little amount of time for others to get in on the
action, before the final edit, so if you want to do a 15 minute interview and you have a specific story to tell and have some notoriety in the ANSI art scene, then please get in touch with me at ajross dot nz at gmail dot com.
Cheers,
Al!
