    What got me started in the late 1980's was the idea of being able to set something up on my system that others could interact with, and which could
    be networked with other, similar systems around the World.

    With the rise of the public internet a few years later, some of that
    original thrill got old. After several years, I became motivated to
    continue because BBSing is now a part of history and there is something
    neat about keeping it going.

    It is still neat to get an email from a new user that says either, "I used
    to call BBSes all the time and didn't realize they were still around" or "I heard of these but never got a chance to use one until now." I still have
    a modem line available for folks to test their old machines, and have a few users lately that have kept calling that way.

    I also still enjoy some of the challenges of getting old software working
    with today's Internet BBS scene.

    I get some of those emails sometimes.
