Scarlett Johansson is suing the Walt Disney Co. over its streaming release of Black Widow, which she said breached her contract and deprived her of potential earnings.

In a lawsuit filed Thursday morning in Los Angeles Superior Court, the Black Widow star and executive producer said her contract guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news of the lawsuit.

Apparently she alleges her contract was breached when the media
giant released the film on its Disney+ streaming service at the
same time as its theatrical debut. She probably assumed that
she had rights to run the theatrical release for certain period
and then the streaming version would come out later.

The things (assumptions) that are NOT dispelled in contracts is
just as important as the things that are. So, unless her
contract was very specific, she may not have a case.

it was in her contract to get a cut of box office money and they did streaming which decreased that.

I liked Rogue one and Mandalorian (Up until an actress got fired by "being political", which nowadays only gets enforced if you're right-wing)

The other star wars films I don't mind. I'd watch if they were on terrestrial TV but I wouldn't seek them out

Mostly agree on Star Wars, disagree on the Marvel movies.

Star Wars prequels weren't great, but The Clone Wars really did bridge
the gap pretty well and if you ignore the first movie, not bad.

As to Marvel, Iron Man was pre-Disney and imo the best of all of the
Marvel Movies, Guardians of The Galaxy being a close second. And Disney wasn't nearly as heavily involved in Guardians... but if you look at
what they were definitely more influential over (Capt. Marvel, Thor 2,
etc) much worse.

I'm pretty sure the widespread ability/availability of special effects
were a huge factor on that... regarding superhero movies. The Tobey
Maguire Spider-Man was really the first superhero movie that wasn't
overall garbage.

Of course, the licensing models etc were mostly outside Marvel's
creative control for those earlier movies.
