Micro Men (2009)

I just learned of this docudrama from 2009. Micro Men, a story
about the rivalry betwen Sinclair and Acorn computers in the UK
during the PC goldrush of the 80's:

For anyone familiar with the Halt and Catch Fire tv series,
this is a worthy inclusion to consider.

Thanks for the link. There's a lot of documentary subjects out there from
the microcomputer days, I'd love to see more titles. The Compaq story is a good one, Michael Dell and PC Limited, the whole DOS, CP/M, Microsoft story, Novell, Sun, the rise of Oracle...

I wasn't sure I was going to like Micro Men at first. The
makeup (bald head of the Sinclair character) seemed pretty bad.
But then the story held its own pretty good.

I'm impressed with Sinclair and his inventiveness. Didn't his
idea for a battery-powered car/bike inspire the golf-cart?

The X-bike seems like a cool foldable bike design too.

There's a lot of documentary subjects out there from the

I know of a Jobs/Wozniak docudrama, but I haven't seen that
one.

I saw the film about Facebook's beginnings. That was pretty
good.

Thanks for reminding me about this. I saw a Nolstalgia Nerd video on YouTube and saw clips of this docudrama featured on it. He was obviously talking about the Clive Sinclair going up against the Cambridge University Acorn Computers set and the competitive rivalry they had. Both companies seemed to vanish by the late 80's.

Rasberry Pi.

The Sinclair C5 battery powered pedal cycle pretty much bankrupted the company as I believe the computers were still selling reasonably well. Most micros were struggling up against early consoles such as the Famicom/NES and the Master System... obviously Amiga and Atari put up a fight but the other companies seemed to go under.

Yes... I am glad Acorn came up with the ARM architecture. It's way more efficient than x86 -- shame the larger companies ditched it. I am glad that Apple has re-adopted it in their M1 chips for their iMac and MacBook lines.
