• Amerigeddon (2016)

    Hello!

I am here to talk about yet another bad film this week. You may consider this review a Bonus Track of the week, if you will. The film in question is Amerigeddon.

The movie deals with an hostile takeover of the United Nations and international elites against the USA, leveraging a manufactured crisis in order to plunge the country into Chaos, declare martial law and crush the government as the first step towards the New World Order.

Yes, exactly. It is _that_ kind of film. As a reminder, this is a pre COVID-19 movie.

It is very obvious from the start that this movie is pandering to Kentucky farmers who have more guns than teeth, and Amerigeddon does absolutely nothing to conceal this. In fact, it goes as far as including lines such as "Governments feed nobody, it is us farmers that do." I must say this is a refreshing change, because it looks like everybody in the movie industry is pandering to woke milennials nowadays. Sadly, it is a bit too much "in your face" about idealizing the southern lifestyle.

If there is a big issue with this film, it is that it is very much "in your face" about the matters it deals with. The first minute we are exposed to a declaration from Obama, according to which the population is too stupid and irresponsible to be granted rights. What follows up is a senatorial meeting in which an American Patriot (TM) tries to beat sense into the Dumb Senators' heads, while in the backstage two International Elite Scumbags (TM) reassure each other that the American Patriot poses no threat, because International Elite Scumbags (TM) control the media, and can portray the American Patriot (TM) as a right wing lunatic and therefore nullify him.

Yes, I know. It is _*THAT*_ kind of movie.

Another issue is the production values are not great, precisely. The film is intended to be an action piece, but the action scenes range from bad to so-so. The UN troops, led by some Russian Colonel who is "fed up with these Texans," die too easily to be convincing. The UN air support is a joke, because they basically took a civillian helicopter for the movie and added air-to-air missiles to it with CGI. In fact, Amerigeddon has the dubious honor of featuring the most boring helicopter fight I have ever watched. Rambo II got it wrong when the Russian guy tried to take Rambo's helicopter down using air-to-ground rockets from his Hind, but at least it was entertaining. Here, it is just the UN helo and the Redneck helo circling each other for what feels like an eternity.

About the acting... well... the best acting happens in a scene in which the Southern Wife (TM) is taking care of some horses. She is petting a beautiful horse (who reminds me of one of mine, by the way), and suddenly she gets a phone call and stops petting the horse. It is in that moment when you can tell the horse is pissed off because he is not getting rubs anymore. That horse is the most powerful actor in the whole movie. In fact, I'd say he is award material compared to the rest of the cast - I'd say he is Oscar material if Oscars meant anything these days.

The movie is not all bad, to be honest. By this I mean that you may extract a little bit of joy out of it if you happen to be in the target audience. In its "in your face" style, you get a lot of references about how rotten city life can get during a crisis. They made sure to include a rabid feminist in the cast, berating "God and Gun" culture, just in order to have the bad guys stomp her feminist leaflets, and the American Patriots show her the wrong of her ways by mowing down the bad guys with AR-15s in the last second.

Yes, it is _**THAT**_ kind of movie.

I am going to be clear about this: this movie is junk, and I can't recommend it to anybody who wants to watch a good film. However, they tried to bring back some of the pride the West used to portray in films of old, in which the idea was that the civilitation making the movie was awesome and its enemies are bad to the bone. This is much better than the modern trend I see, in which the civilitation protrays itself as rotten, and its enemies as victims. Amerigeddon tries to get back the same rancid patriotism you can see in Turkish films, Korean Films, and that we used to see in Western productions. I'd give them an A for effort.

In addition, I must confess I managed to enjoy it, despite the fact it is obviously as healthy as radioactive waste.

By the way, I have noticed this film is not available in Amazon Prime here. Maybe the International Elite Scumbags are trying to censor the American Patriots, Amerigeddon is right, and gun toting Texans are the last hope against a Chinesse-Russian-UN coallition who is trying to portray the bearers of the truth as conspiracy nuts?

    Nice question.

Some torrent sites carry this movie, but I suppose you are looking for a legal outlet. I think
Google play carries it. It is also listed in Justwatch. I also see a DVD listed for sale at
    BestBuy.

Armageddon was a fantastic movie. Bruce Willis was a great actor in it.
