Maybe there could be a series that comments/explores/reviews
current door games.
there arent really many 'new' doorgames. and they dont compare to the
old ones.
Darkness 2.0 was and is thought of as the LoRD of BBSing 2.0... furthermore, jACK pHLASH continues to support and develop REFDoor-just releasing an update to it this month.
SKYRAIDERS is... well, its one of the very best door games ever created. With its arcade style gameplay, and 'different for door games' Nintendo-style save game features it shows the evolution of doors, from then until now. It is ever-changing and, although closed source, very currently developed. I don't play it religiously, however there hasn't been a time I've revisited it without finding some new feature or addition to gameplay. (If you haven't, you need to play SKYRAIDERS @ absinthebbs.net:1940)
1NS0MN1A (And Black Country Rock as a whole; From Here to Eternity & Freedom Train) is brand new. It is deeper than any other door game that I've ever played, and feels closer to a textmode WoW than it does to LoRD 2. The storyline is deep; this isn't a title that your going to fully grasp in one 15 minute session
BAUD is looking cooler and cooler.. sure, he's been developing it for a while, but I believe it'll come out and be another great NEW door game. If you dig a little deeper, join some Discord channels, you can follow these projects - and BAUD is no different.
I agree with one of your statements - they don't compare to the old ones... at all.
