There are great films that use a single room and a dozen actors for production. With a decent plot you can do great films for cheap.
Twelve Angry Men (the Henry Fonda one), ARQ, The Exam, Infinity Chamber, Cube. Not a big deal of special effects or action stunts. Plots and characters you care for.

Well, ever since I began getting HBO (many years ago) I never saw any point in going to the theatre. When a movie comes out that the Big Screen is a must then I'll go. Other then that I
enjoy lying on the couch when I watch a movie.

Did you know that the director made the walls come a bit closer each scene, order to make the room more opressive as the plot developed?

Low-tech, simple, but enjoyable.

Yea I saw both but on my PC. I'll bet they were wicked on IMAX. Have you been to a theatre since COVID began? How do they arrange the seating? Are they even open?

A good story is important, as is being familiar with lighting
techniques and camera angles. Several years ago I began watching Star Trek fan fic films, and the quality varies. Vic Mignogna's productions are on the better end, mainly because he knows how to frame shots and light the sets ands actors like they did with TOS.

You want to sleep through a movie you paid for? I was talking to a friend about this today but he hadn't been to an IMAX in 2 years. He couldn't tell me exactly what they were doing to keep people at a distance. He said they leave it up to the people themselves. That didn't sound right to me. Most people are a-holes. Although if you saw the Notredame game you could see that for yourself. All 100,000 of them. ;-)
doing it since we had our initial hard lockdown in March and haven't bothered going back to the barbers. I've learned how to do a basic fade and also how to cut the top of my hair with scissors. I now cut my hair once each week and it looks no worse than when I had it cut professionally... and I can do it more often. I save a lot of money (50 dollars per month) and no longer have to travel!

Funny, I haven't heard them called "barbers" here since maybe the late 80s or early 90s.. It seemed there was a transition phase when traditional barber shops here were replaced with hair salons (such as SuperCuts, GreatClips, etc.), which also seemed to charge more money. All I want is a basic haircut, which is what I usually get. I don't feel like I need any hair gel or hairspray or anything else they want to offer.
No, I haven't. I've got a thick mop of hair that gives hairdressers
fits the first time they try to cut it. If I do a clipper cut, it
stands straight up.
I had a flat-top in the 90s, can attest.

what i have problems with is doing the back of my neck straight across. i usually put take across and use that as a guide. i screwed up big today and had to take off a lot of hair and fade it.
We tend to describe them as hair salons here if the establishment caters towards females or are for mixed sexes. The place I went to was more of a hair salon as they catered to people who were after technical haircuts, and they charge a lot more than an ordinary barber. A haircut from a standard barber here costs between 10-14 USD whereas if you go to a salon, you're paying twice as much.

I've found it's rare to see a more traditional barber shop in my area anymor They're usually hair salons, and a haircut usually costs about $15-$17 USD. remember when you could get a haircut for around $8 to $10, but that was a l time ago.

Salons seem to crop up wherever I look. We have many Turkish barber shops in our country though. I think there's around 3-4 where I live along with one native English barber shop.

Does anyone else find that all the salons in their city suddenly started having "no pets allowed" signs posted on them? Like, all at once?
Did something happen nation-wide that I missed?

Correct. Barbers have to be proficient at a wider variety of things in order to get their license, at least in my state they do.

I've never really seen anyone bring pets into hair salons where I live..
I'd think there could potentially be issues with bringing dogs in - What
if a dog suddenly barks loud, startling one of the hair stylists,
causigng them to accidentally poke their customer with a pair of
scissors? It probably wouldn't be very common, but I could see
something like that potentially happening.

That's your perception. But I have seen many people attend
repertoire theatres, single, simply because they appreciate

I don't think that's what I was originally referring to, actually.
However the coffee has not started to kick in yet and I do not feel motivated enough to go back into the thread and check.
As far as being single, I'd have to say that it's far preferable to the last relationship I was in. I took more knives in the back from that treacherous liar than I have in many years of dating before it. I still hold out hopes that there will be someone decent to share my life with at some point, though.
If it comes down to being in a relationship like my last or none at all, though, I'll gladly pick none at all.
