Which horse? I would have sworn that I would have noticed it if there was a horse around.

My barn is a nice place to be in this time of the year. It is quite cool despite the summer sun and the grass in the surrounding pastures is quite green and tasty. If you see that horse just sent him my way.

at my first IT gig, I saw my first example of high-functioning
dysfunction when, at a retail company I saw the team that supported a
WAN technology called Excellenet was managed by a group of non-technical
store operations managers.

This WAN package was critical to the company, as it ran the cash
registers, transfered config files, SKU tables, sales, payroll
information and store sales.

The non-technical managers hired a manager to report to the other
managers. Instead of having the technical team interview them, the
managers interviewed the manager.

The question the candidate was asked was "do you know EXCEL?"

The hired candidate knew all about macros and tables, and not a whit
about WAN technologies. We ended up running the system and she took the
credit.
