does anyone else feel like they are watching people become "boomery" in real time? like, i see people's hornery old-age coming out more and more as the days go by. i am not singling anyone out here... i am about to turn 50, ffs... i am sure i fit the term "boomery" in some regard. if you feel this is related-to or directed-at you, there is probably a reason for that. ;)
btw, i am pretty new here... welcome to me. yay.
lol.. this is the bbs world.. we are all already boomers, or well on our way, but most of this type of conversation was going on when we were kids back in the 90's too :) A lot of us just have not "Evolved" beyond that :-)
Welcome!

Boomer actually refers to persons in the Baby Boom generation. If you are about to turn 50 then you are not in that generation. That said, if you
are acting like your parents you might be acting like a boomer. ;)
Welcome!

Not really.
People who are ancored to their ways still remain anchored to their ways. It is not like they were hippies one day and woke up the next day shouting "get off my lawn!"

A lot of the older people on BBSes back when I was a kid had these same kinds of "troll-esque" discussions. I just don't understand the point of some of it. I always had a lot of fun with it.
Oh I know what "boomer" means, and I know that I am definitely GenX. That is >why I said "boomery" to draw a parallel to how some people act nowadays -- in >direct relation to how our parents acted as those of us who were born to >boomers.
We are living in rough, shitty times. During covid the whole world pretty much >went crazy. I could go on for a long time about whats wrong with the world and
i don't even pay attention to the news most of the time. of course people are
going to be grumpy. if you're not grumpy, you're dumb.
Our society is pretty much a prison.
regarding that boomer crack, I think that's just ageism. 'boomers' complain >about stuff but that's just because when they were at their peak things weren't
as shitty as they are now. that's just normal.
what do you mean by troll? A troll isn't someone who argues.
A troll is someone who is fake and says things to get a rise out of people. They bait people to just cause drama.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMEe7JqBgvg
Most people just throw the word troll out when they lose an argument.
I wonder what the boomers called it when they started acting like their parents? ;)

At the very beginning of COVID, I actually noticed people being nicer to others. Like the folks who drove by a house up the street to wave and wish a kid Happy Birthday, or the teachers who paraded through neighborhoods to wish their students a happy summer break. It was all done with distancing but was really nice.
There was other stuff like that in other places that was on the news that gave you a sense that we were treating others well.
Then came Summer and people in some areas went nuts.

There are some people who troll by "bait(ing) people just to cause drama" that are not necessarily fake... at least not in the sense that they are
not who they say they are. They could be putting on a fake persona.
One thing about myself is sometimes i make a joke or say something stupid on purpose to kinda bait people to jump on me. then i do laugh. so maybe i'm a troll in that respect. don't care. Lots of boring people in bbsing.

You don't joke. You Bully people. and when that don't work you go even further and try to dig up personal information on them and try to exloit that.

I'd expect that kind of behavior from middle school kids & younger, and it's sad to see a grown adult behave this way. When I see an adult behave that way, I want to just roll my eyes and move on. I think Gen X is starting to notice that too.
Honestly I think we need a revolution and we need to tear out and replace our govt. people need to be held accountable. They do NOT have our best intrests in mind.

Is MRO the type to say something awful & then when people respond saying they were hurt instead of thinking it was funny, he says "I was just joking"?

One thing that is new to me is apparently according to wikipedia the generation
before boomers were called 'the silent generation'. 99% of the books referenced
are pretty new, though.
I did troll some krad guys on a msg net a while back about the tv show columbo.
it was funny how they got mad. Ah well, whatever.

for me i use it in a derogatory manner for when sysops overdo it with the long ansi scrollers, the NUP stuff, and the stuff normal people can't read. What is krad?
BBSing in the 80s, for some reason I don't know, it was considered cool
to
put 'k' in front of words, like k-rad, or replace 'c' with 'k' as in "kool". "rad" is short for radical (good) of course, so k-rad is just extra good.

urbandictionary lists it, but their definition seems pretty lame.
"really rad" basically. obviously sarcastic here ;)

That's why it's time to bring back the knuckle sandwich! There is no better response to hate than a motherfucking punch in the face. Happy day!

Most movies now days use extreme violence to solve problems, and is all about getting much more than even.

An index fund based on politician trades - what a concept. In early
2020, when Kelly Loeffler sold her retail stocks and bought Citrix
before Covid hit, those transactions would have been interesting to look
at forensically.
Hmmm. Why would people not be shopping at retail locations and instead
be working from home?

That'd mess your typing up for sure. I am surprised you were able to push the key(s) down with that stuck under them.
How does the script know what is Pelosi investing in? I would expect that information not to be publicly available.
