    I think netmail refers to email in a username@location format, and could be internet email or an email over a Fidonet-style network - but I'm not sure if I'm right about that..

    I think that "netmail" is specifically FTN-style messaging, not the same
    as normal "email" (such as with a .gmail account or similar).

    More like user@node rather than user@domain.
