Maybe it's the area I live in, but people here generally don't talk to other shoppers while shopping. But different activities can lend themselves to meeting people more easily.

One of the things I love about where I live is that nobody ever bothers me. It's a very elitist feeling place for people that are not from here. We don't wave on the road when someone lets us in, we just keep to ourselves.

I've learned to really appreciate this. I had a business trip to El Paso recently and I was in the elevator and some random was asking me what I do for a living. Leave me the fuck alone, that's what I do! hehe

I have to be in a mood to flip the extrovert switch, honestly. I'm perfectly happy just keeping to myself most times. I used to travel frequently for work and it got exhausting talking to people randomly so I would put earbuds in even if I wasn't using them, and people would leave me alone.

I have a hat I bought off the old ar15.com store that has the BFL logo. I
wear it everywhere. On occasion people who are members to the site approach
me and ask where I got the hat. Arfcom is a website and forums and at any given time there are up to 5000 members active online. I can go shopping,
and someone will ask about the hat. If I go to a music festival, someone
asks about it. I was at the farm supply, and some woman asked me to stay
put, then drags her husband over so he can see I have a hat. When Brownells bought out the site, their merchandising changed. Another funny thing is
after that initial encounter, I see these people more often, and we've
planned get togethers through the website to hang out in person. If you spend
enough time on the board, the people do not feel like strangers.

Yeah, I guess I go through phases. If someone is genuinely trying to talk to me, I try to be polite at all times.

I think my introversion really set in in 2019. For 50 weeks of that year I spent a portion of the workweek on the road, typically to multiple destinations, and frequently abroad. It was so exhausting that I really gave up on most human contact and cocooned myself with my airpods and sunglasses. This has probably persisted in my personality a bit.

I assume this is gamgee talking.

It's a really really good hammer. When i worked in a foundry I used it to break part castings all day long. so the hammer combined with me being able to swing it like that makes it dangerous. Also most people can't shoot and it takes time to pull out a gun and get it ready and shoot it. if you close the distance you are at hand to hand.

My neighbor is a friend of mine and i could have called him and told him to shoot the guy with his ar15 (he actually said i should have)

Shooting is an option for self defense. If you're out investigating a noise, then the other guy's lawyer would say you were out hunting their client. If the other person turned out to be unarmed, claiming to be "in fear of

Well, that way you can move around pretty much silently, ya know. You need every advantage you can get when engaging with "prowlers" - they're very crafty. Also, hammers are much quieter than guns.

If you go for stealth, what you must do is wear a nijna outfit and use shurikens instead. Just wearing a ninja bandana makes you ten times more stealthy.

In my late 20s, I was lucky enough to go to Amsterdam for six weeks for work. It was one of the best adventures of my life. I hit all the major attractions, a bunch of the minor ones, ate in what seemed like every restaurant in the city, rode through the canals on a tour boat, went out into the harbor, spent an afternoon at the beach... I do have to say
there are bits I don't remember because of a combination of alcohol and marijuana.

    Sounds fantastic!

This reminds me when my ex and I split and I was so utterly depressed I could barely function and I had a work trip to Romania for about three weeks. Let's just say Bucharest was very kind to my broken American heart at the time. It turned out to be a memorable and amazing trip which helped pull me out of my funk quick. And I visited places I would likely never have heard of otherwise.

I asked where they'd come from, and she dissmissively looked at me and said "Naah, I'm good". Continued talking about her efforts to increase her
    viewers.

She seemed to have forgotten that people are on the other end of those
    likes.

Contrast with a realtor friend who can strike up a conversation with anyone, and without breaking a sweat end up finding clients, or someone to buy a friend's car, or a landscaper. It's uncanny.

Ha, the last time I addressed a stranger in a grocery store it was to scold a guy for coughing without covering his mouth or wearing a mask.

I miss my business trips to London. Get out of the center of the city, and people are chatty. Queues, pubs, stores, you name it. It was a bit of a culture shock to come back to San Francisco and realize you don't chat up
the person ahead of you in line at Safeway or Starbucks.

Thank you for elaborating. My concern is the courts are not so friendly to those who take law into their own hands.

Lately I read that illinois and New York are trying a "no detain" system where a suspect does not hget jailed unless they are considered a flight risk and won't show up at court. The woke crowd feel too many people are in jail because they can't pay fees or post bail. Let's see how this works when
their dates to show up in court are missed.

well read into that a bit because i think it has been sensationalized.

a lot of that bill seems decent.

I wouldn't have been as rude as she was, but I would also not included you
into my conversation. If I am talking to someone, I don't want a random stranger to join in.

Now, if she and the person she was with weren't actively discussing
something, then it would be better.
